Gates Does Not Like The Pogues, Wants To Sell Music without DRM

Today’s New York Times reports that Bill Gates does not like is not familiar with The Pogues.

In more pertinent news, the same article also reports that in an effort to “tak[e] potential customers from Apple,” Microsoft will:

focus[ ] on selling songs without copy-restriction software — roughly a third of its overall library will not have the software, known as digital rights management, that limits music copying or sharing. But he also suggested that music labels should push harder to sell all-you-can-eat subscriptions that let users download much more music that they keep as long as they continue paying. While Apple has frowned on subscriptions, Microsoft has backed a $15-a-month plan that Mr. Gates said would get a big push as part of Zune’s new line.
