After a week of travel due to work and a wonderful ski trip, I am back. Quite a bit of news from the past week. Delta and Northwest have withdrawn their application to DOT for antitrust immunity. Articles from the Houston Chronicle and Forbes. DOJ had opposed Delta and Northwest’s request.
JPMorgan Chase received antitrust
clearance from the FTC for its $663 million acquisition of Collegiate Funding
Services Inc. AP article here (via Forbes).
Although NRG Energy and Texas Genco had received FTC approval on November 10, 2005, for the transfer of indirect ownership of the 44
percent interest in the South Texas Project Electric Generation
Station. This week they received the required approval from the
Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
DOJ approved Qualcomm’s acquisition

On Tuesday, IBM received approval for their $865 million acquisition of Micromuse. Reuters article here.
According to this press release iPass Inc. received approval for is $76.5 acquisition of GoRemote Internet Communications.
