A Hearing On Love
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has an article about the House bill regarding Love Field and the Wright Amendment. According to the article:
he House Judiciary Committee has scheduled the Wright Amendment bill that could determine the future of Dallas Love Field for consideration Thursday. Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., has put the bill on the committee’s “mark-up” calendar, said committee spokesman Jeff Lundgren, making it the last of seven unrelated issues the panel is due to vote on. By marking up the bill, Sensenbrenner avoids the time-consuming hearing process and can provide a manager’s amendment with whatever changes he might want to make to the bill. However, it is not clear whether Sensenbrenner plans to amend the bill — a prospect decried by supporters of the agreement reached by Fort Worth, Dallas, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Sensenbrenner, citing the deal’s antitrust immunity, insisted on referring the bill to his committee after the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved it. The deal’s supporters have said that any change would destroy the delicate balance that holds it together.
