A Love Field Deal?
Late last week, it was reported that:
The Wright Amendment compromise moved closer to votes in Congress as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, reached an agreement on antitrust language with the legislation’s chief Senate critic and the House majority leader scheduled the bill for action. Hutchison, R-Texas, told reporters Thursday that she and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., had agreed on changes to the bill that overcame his concerns about antitrust immunity. … The section of the bill that stipulated antitrust immunity was removed. But Hutchison inserted language that says the city of Dallas “shall determine the allocation” of gates at Dallas Love Field. … The new version of the bill is designed to protect the parties to the deal from antitrust lawsuits over the gate reductions.
