Spring Meeting
The ABA Section of Antitrust Law’s Spring Meeting begins tomorrow. All three of us will be there - if you see us, feel free to say hello (and to tell Hanno how cute Knut is). Like last year, we’ll be providing occasional reports. And like last year, it appears that too many panels are again filled with too many similar viewpoints (of course, you never know until the panelists begin their presentations). As Hanno wrote last year:
The section leadership needs to bring in the plaintiffs bar or academics that are out of the mainstream. We need more dissent on the panels. So far, everybody was pretty much in agreement with one another, which simply doesn’t make for particularly spirited discussions. What’s true for agency procedure, i.e., cross examination helps to weed out patently stupid claims, is true for doctrinal discussion too. Plus, it’s more fun that way.
I am disappointed that there is no blogger’s happy hour (the IP Section is far ahead of the Antitrust Section on this) but am hopeful that the men have learned that it is OK to wear shirts that are not white or blue.

Well, I am not wearing a shirt that isn’t white or blue or both. I am just saying this up front so people can recognize me and say hello. The guy with the shirt that isn’t white or blue (or both) is David.

You’ll really be identifiable to the masses in a white or blue shirt. That’s why I think you should go with the Hawaiian print shirt (despite the formal dress policy for the Spring Meeting).
